Accessibility Statement

Last reviewed: November 5, 2026

We want everyone to be able to keep track of the deadlines that cost them money. Our goal is for the Deadline Wallet website and apps to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.

What works today

  • On the website you can sign up, add, open and edit a deadline, scan, and change settings with a keyboard. Each deadline in the dashboard list opens with Enter, and every button and box shows a visible outline when it has keyboard focus.
  • Website pop-up windows (a deadline's details, Scan & Add, Review Scan, Speak or Type, History, Upgrade, Import from CSV and the confirmations) are announced as dialogs with a name. Keyboard focus moves into them and stays inside, Escape closes them, and focus goes back where it was. A click outside or Escape asks before throwing away changes you haven't saved.
  • Website messages that appear for a few seconds, such as "Record updated." or an error, are read out by screen readers.
  • Website boxes have labels that screen readers read, and buttons that only show an icon have a name.
  • The website's buttons on teal, the deadline type and time-left badges and the keyboard focus outline meet WCAG AA colour contrast (4.5:1 for text, 3:1 for the outline) in light and dark mode.
  • You can choose light or dark mode under Appearance in Settings, on the website and in the apps.
  • Date fields in the apps open a calendar and also have spoken labels.
  • Every way of adding a deadline has a typing option: Voice Add, scanning and importing all lead to a form you can review and edit.

Known limitations

We're working on these and will update this page as they're fixed:

  • We haven't had an independent accessibility audit yet, and we haven't tested every website screen with every screen reader.
  • Some lighter text on the website, such as example text inside empty boxes, is below 4.5:1 contrast.
  • In Import from CSV, the extra details under a row open with a mouse click only.
  • The website and apps don't follow your device's light or dark setting yet; choose it in Settings.
  • Many icon buttons in the iPhone, iPad and Android apps don't yet have spoken labels for VoiceOver and TalkBack.
  • The apps haven't been fully tested with the largest system text sizes, so some text may be cut off.
  • The charts on the Reports page are pictures; the same numbers are in the table and totals next to them.
  • On the scan review screen, how sure we are about each value is shown mainly by a colored badge.
